In recent days Panchakarma has become globally the second name of Ayurveda. It is that stream of Ayurveda which fulfills the objective of prevention and cure especially  in the era of lifestyle disorders and chronic diseases it provides apt solutions.Understanding the importance of the department a PG course was initiated in the year 2010 for its growth.Since then the department has been working with the following vision, mission and objectives.
Vision:
Evidence based practice to generate competent research based data in understanding the science of Panchakarma, diagnosis, management of disease and patient care as per global standards.
Mission:
Achieving academic and clinicalexcellence through progression of scientific thinking and providing high standard resources to promote research and development.
Objectives:
Imbibing the qualities of teaching and learning to achieve the academic excellence. Constant updating of knowledge to achieve clinical proficiency and making competent to face the scientific platform.
The department is well equipped with hi-tech panchakarma theatres. The students are trained to perform various panchakarma procedures which are first taught by experts and later allowed to have hands on experience under the expert guidance, thus making them confident in employing panchakarma therapies. Also   the students are subjected to role play classes which makes them well versed in patient interaction.
Over the years the department has developed SOP of each panchakarma procedure hence optimizing the patient care . There is an awareness regarding the importance of assessment and documentation due to which retrospective studies are taken up in various aspects to establish Evidence Based Medicine. Also an initiative which is the first of its kind in the field is developing the Basti fitness and Nasya fitness format in association with the department of shalya and shalakya, which has enabled to prevent the complications by providing necessary care during these treatment procedures.
Research in Panchakarma has opened new avenues with the institution signing MOU 's with various scientific institutes. Some of the noteworthy contributions to the preventive care are the effect of virechana on genes to prevent breast cancer; in curative care is the assessment of changes in genes in dyslipidemic patients, changes in immunoglobulins in psoriasis patients; towards understanding the science of panchakarma is a pharmacokinetic study to explore mode of action of Basti, the importance of avartana of snehapaka, understanding of Vamana vega, step towards new innovation in development of instrumentation in Ayurveda(Ayurtechnology).
The department with a team of sincere and hardworking staff & students was able to conduct a workshop at World Ayurveda Conference, a national seminar on obesity and on cardiovascular diseases.
Many awareness programmes and camps which are conducted through the department help in serving the community and also gives a clinical exposure to the students.
Thus it is marching forward with all its glory spreading health and knowledge.
